3 Must-Try Experiences When You Visit Hawaii

If you’ve been thinking about taking your family on a special trip, chances are that you’ve considered a lot of destinations. Maybe you’ve thought about visiting Florida and exploring Disney World. Maybe toyed with the idea of taking a cruise and going to the Bahamas. If, however, you’re ready for a once-in-a-lifetime journey that your kids will be talking about for years to come, there’s no better destination than Hawaii.

Whether you’re going to visit for a week or just a few days, there are three things that you absolutely must do on your family vacation to Hawaii.

1. See a real luau.

First off, you need to see a real luau. There are plenty of options when it comes to luaus, but two of the best are at the Polynesian Cultural Center on North Shore and Germaine’s Luau. Both of these places will put on a top-notch performance without breaking your budget. At the Polynesian Cultural Center, you’ll witness a huge performance designed to entrance and amaze you. If you want something more personalized, Germaine’s Luau is the place to go. You’ll enjoy buffet-style dining and audience interaction during the entire show. Both places offer free parking if you rented a vehicle.

2. Explore the Dole Plantation.

Did you know that Dole pineapples are grown in Hawaii? This family-friendly attraction is located in the heart of Oahu and is perfect for anyone traveling with kids. In addition to learning about the process of growing pineapples, you’ll have the option to ride a train through the pineapple fields or to try your hand at escaping the pineapple maze. There is also an on-site gift shop and cafe where you can buy pineapple-flavored foods and treats.

3. Discover Hawaii’s North Shore.

Never visit Hawaii without taking the time to explore North Shore. Many visitors make the mistake of sticking to Waikiki. While this beach is still beautiful, North Shore offers a more scenic, local feel. If you want to know where the residents of Hawaii spend their time surfing, tanning, and swimming with sea turtles, North Shore is the place to be. There are multiple beaches available with free parking, so you’ll be able to take your pick at choosing the perfect spot. Don’t forget to pack a picnic lunch and to always bring your sunscreen.
